About Mr. Lancaster
I was born in in northern Illinois and lived there before moving to Burlington, Wisconsin as a teenager. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Art Education with minors in Psychology and History (Teaching) at UW-Stout in 2000. I began teaching at Washington School and Kansasville Grade School in 2000 and then began teaching at Brighton Elementary School the following year. After sixteen years teacher art at Washington-Caldwell and Brighton School I began teaching at Trevor-Wilmot Grade School. I lived in Waterford for several years, married my wife, Sara, and moved to Union Grove. Our German Shepherd, Dixie died in May of 2016 at 16 1/2 years old. Her little buddy, Neko, a Kelpie/ Australian Cattle Dog mix, was lonely so we decided to choose a dog from a rescue. We went to get Sully and Finn chose us! We came home with Sully and Finn. Having three dogs in the house and with two of them being puppies, there is never a dull moment!
Although I think all art is important, even I have my favorites. My main interests are drawing, painting, ceramics, and printmaking. When I'm not teaching or making my own art, I'm probably running or training for a marathon (to date, I've completed five half marathons and 8 marathons). I have loved hiking for years, but recently started long-distance backpacking with my wife. In June 2014, we hiked 180 miles from the Ohio River to the Mississippi River in southern Illinois. Neko, hiked with us for 120 miles of the trail before a scrape on her paw forced us to send her off trail. I also enjoy mountain biking , letterboxing (a scavenger hunt-style game that combines hiking, clues and arts), going to concerts, gardening, spending time with my family, and beekeeping—a hobby I started about six years ago that has turned out to be a great experience.
